    Workers Assaulted, Hailakandi Municipal Board Files FIR

    Guwahati: The Hailakandi Municipal Board filed an FIR against a few miscreants for manhandling some workers of the board while they were dumping garbage at the Kuchila dumping site. Prodip Timung, Executive Officer, Hailakandi Municipal Board has asked the Superintendent of Police to register a case.

    As per allegations, eight persons along with a group of 50 number of locals armed with lethal weapons threatened two truck drivers and a muster roll worker of the board of dire consequences and hurled abuses while they were dumpling garbage at the board’s own dumping ground at around 10 am on July 19th, 2019. The board owns the plot of land measuring 10 bighas since 1970, Timung said.

    Timung also claimed that the miscreants pelted stones at the workers and damaged the windscreen of a vehicle. One worker was injured during the stone-pelting.

    Following the incident, garbage clearance from nook and corner of Hailakandi town has been affected.
