    With Songs, Folk Instruments And Placards, Thousands Join Protests Against CAA In Assam

    Protests against the newly enacted Citizenship Amendment Act rocked the state once again on January 9th, 2020. People in large number joined the protests across the state.

    Holding placards agitators used folk instruments and sang patriotic songs to register protests against the contentious act.

    The protest called Rana Singa staged today was a part of the All Assam Students’ Union’s series of agitations started on January 3rd, 2020 across the state. Numbers of organisations representing various ethnic groups, artistes’ fraternity including civilians extended their support to the agitation. Protestors demanded immediate scrapping of the act for the interest of the Assamese community.

    The AASU leaders reiterated that it would continue the agitation until the act is revoked.

    AASU and other 30 supporting organisations will hold its next protests on January 11th, 13th and 14th, 2020 across the state.
