    Wild Jumbo Tramples 12-Year-Old Girl To Death In Panikhaiti

    The elephant purportedly strayed out from the Amchang forest in search of food

    A 12-year-old girl was trampled to death by a wild elephant at Panikhaiti in Chandrapur of Assam’s Kamrup district. The tragic incident occurred near the Assam Downtown University on October 20th, 2019.

    The deceased has been identified as Sima Barman. Sima’s two siblings, Dipti (7) and Pushpa (10) also sustained severe injuries.

    Sima’s family was asleep when a herd of wild jumbos attacked their house located in the Lahapara area. The elephant purportedly strayed out from the Amchang forest in search of food.

    Locals alleged that a team of forest officials reached the spot after the herd returned to the wild. While Panikhaiti Police sent the body to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital for post mortem examination.
