Chief Minister Conard K Sangma inaugurated the Shillong Mawlai Bypass and Mawkynroh Police Outpost on August 17th, 2019. “Projects like these have different people, departments and political parties playing their part and it only when all the stakeholders come together such projects can be achieved,” he said. The Chief Minister said that with the opening and implementation of the Bypass traffic congestion in Shillong city should be eased to a considerable extent.
Sangma also appealed citizens to avoid throwing garbage and keep the roads of Shillong clean. “Our people very conveniently throw garbage on the roadside and I hope that does not happen to the Shillong Mawlai Bypass,” said the Chief Minister.
He said that since there will be a lot of tourist flow with the opening of the Bypass, he urged the people to help the tourists and make them feel welcomed. He added that the Mawkynroh Police Outpost would also be of great help to the people of the area and to ensure that traffic is smooth on the Shillong Mawlai Bypass.
