The Kamrup Metropolitan District Administration amidst the lockdown due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, has selected 82 locations which will be designated spots for sale of vegetables during the lockdown period.
A press statement by the administration stated that 82 locations have been selected and designated people identified by the administration will be handling and selling vegetables at a market fixed price. This was decided following a meeting with the deputy commissioner of Kamrup (M) and various officials as well as members of the Pamohi vegetable market members.
Here are the locations of the vehicles or vendors permitted by the district administration:
The spots for sale will be opened from April 8th, 2020 from 9 am and will be shut at 2 pm in the afternoon. People who come to the locations must make sure that it is in their locality or is nearest ot them and should not be venturing out long distances without any valid cause.
During the shopping for the groceries, people are also expected to maintain social distancing and also are expected to wear proper protective equipment.
Apart from this, the administration will further increase the number of selling points as per requirement.
Earlier on Friday, the vegetable markets were shut by the government following mass violations by the people on the lockdown norms. Only grocery shops were allowed to operate as a place for food product shopping.
