Shekhawat also assured the Assam government that relief materials would be provided as requested. He was accompanied by State Minister Keshav Mahanta and Revenue and Disaster Management Minister of State Bhabesh Kalita along with other officials.
The flood situation in Assam continues to remain grim as over 4,100 villages have been affected in 30 districts as of July 15th, 2019. Around 43 lakh people have been affected by monsoon mayhem.
The Brahmaputra river crossed the danger mark on July 15th, 2019 taking the death toll to 15. The Central Water Commission said the water level is rising by 2-3 centimetres per hour.
