    Undertrial Prisoner Who Escaped Police Custody Re-Arrested After 45 Days In Nagaon

    Bokajan: An undertrial prisoner who escaped from Bokajan Police custody was re-arrested in the wee hours of July 28th, 2019. As per reports, the accused identified as Jayanta Das fled from the police lock-up on June 14th, 2019. He has several robbery cases labelled against him.

    Post the incident, four police personnel namely SI Pranjal Hatibaruah, ASI Sarat Saharia, Constable Rajkumar Ram and Snehamoni Saikia deployed at the Bokajan Police Station were temporarily suspended for their “carelessness”.

    Based on inputs, a police team traced the accused at Nagaon’s Kachuwa village on July 28th, 2019 and re-arrested him.

    According to the Bokajan Police, the accused had fled to the coastal state of Kerala and was employed for two weeks. He recently returned back to Assam.
