    Two More COVID-19 Positive Cases Detected In Assam, Tally Climbs To 58

    The Total number of COVID-19 cases in Assam now stands at 58 with 23 active cases

    Two more persons in Assam’s Cachar have been tested positive novel coronavirus (COVID-19) on Friday.

    As per Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s tweet, Alert both of them travelled in the bus which ferried people from Rajasthan on May 6th, 2020 and both of them belong to Cachar district.

    The Total number of COVID-19 cases in Assam now stands at 58 with 23 active cases. There were 34 discharged already and one death.

    On Friday morning the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) was temporarily shut down after a PG student at the medical college tested positive for novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

    As many as eight persons, four each in Guwahati and Silchar, tested positive for the deadly contagious infection in Assam on May 7th, 2020, taking the number of cases in the state to 53.

    Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the health department has launched contact tracing of the infected student to break the chain of transmission.

    The GMCH has been closed temporarily for new patients for the next few days, Sarma wrote on Twitter. The hospital premises will also be sanitized, the minister informed.
