Two Brothers Lynched In Assam’s Baksa

The mob apart from lynching, had set their house on fire as well

Two brothers were allegedly lynched by a mob in Baksa’s Athiabari on Wednesday morning.

A police source said that the brothers were lynched by a massive mob on Wednesday morning. They were identified as Biswajit Das and Harban Das of Athiabari. Both of them were beaten to death by a mob of around 20 to 30 people. The reason behind the attack is yet to be officially known.

However, some people have alleged that the deceased had been in a clash with some locals in the area and had arrested a few days ago due to a clash that took place in the market. Both of them were in judicial custody and due to the coronavirus outbreak, they were released from jail last week. Following which, some locals allegedly attack them on Wednesday morning.

These people allegedly had beaten up the brothers and set their house on fire. Although the police tried to save the youth by taking them to a medical facility, they were declared as brought dead.

However, the police have not yet arrested anyone but attempt to nab the culprits are on and an investigation has been initiated.
