Twitter Trolls Nirmala Sitharaman Over ‘I Don’t Eat Onion’ Comment

To check price hike, onions will be imported from Egypt and Turkey

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman was brutally trolled on social media after she said during the Lok Sabha’s Winter session that onion price issue did not affect her much as she and her family didn’t use it prominently on their diet.

“I don’t eat a lot of onions and garlic, so don’t worry. I come from a family that doesn’t care much for onions,” she said while responding to a question by Lok Sabha MP Supriya Sule.

It didn’t take much time for netizens to take a dig on the Minister. The internet put up some hilarious jokes, memes and one-liners connecting the comment of Sitharaman. So much so that
    #SayItLikeNirmalaTai started trending on Twitter.

    Check out a few tweets:

Prices of onion in many places have crossed Rs 100 per kg because of lesser production. To check price hike, onions will be imported from Egypt and Turkey, the Assam Assembly was informed on December 4th, 2019. The government is importing 11,000 tonnes from Turkey.
