In an early morning shocker, the four accused, who were arrested in connection with the barbaric rape-and-murder of a 26-year-old woman veterinarian in Hyderabad, were killed in police firing early morning on December 6th, 2019.
According to police, the arrested persons tried to flee when they were brought to the crime scene from Cherlapally Central Jail to recreate the crime. The accused allegedly tried to flee from the spot by throwing stones following which the police opened fire. The encounter took place between 3 am-4 am.
The four men were arrested on November 29the, 2019 for allegedly raping and killing the woman by smothering her and later burning her body. The arrested men are lorry workers and aged between 20 and 24. They were in remanded to seven days’ judicial custody.
As soon as the news broke out, the locals rushed to the encounter spot in large numbers and applauded the Telangana police for encountering the four suspects in the rape-murder case. They also showered rose petals on police at site of encounter.

People have been expressing their angst and at the same time. While some called the encounter “unconstitutional”, others said, “justice delivered”.
However, BJP leader Maneka Gandhi slammed the police for the killing of four men accused in the gangrape-murder case and said it set a “horrifying” precedent for the country.
