    Tripura CM Urges People Not To Panic As 12 BSF Jawans Test COVID-19 Positive

    12 jawans of the Border Security Force from the 138th unit in Tripura’s Ambassa tested positive for novel coronavirus

    Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb appealed to the public to not panic after 12 jawans of the Border Security Force (BSF) from the 138th unit in Tripura’s Ambassa tested positive for novel coronavirus (COVID-19).

    Deb urged the citizens to follow COVID-19 guidelines and ensure their own safety.

    “We are working vigilantly for your safety,” Deb tweeted.

    With 12 BSF jawans testing COVID-19 positive, the State’s total number of cases stands at 16, out of which two have been discharged.

    Two BSF jawans from Ambassa unit were found positive on May 2nd, 2020.

    This comes after Deb declared Tripura ‘coronavirus-free’ on April 23rd, 2020.

    Tripura’s first COVID-19 patient – a woman – was released from the hospital on April 16th, 2020 after she was found negative following consecutive tests. She was tested positive on April 6th, 2020.

    A few days later, a 32-year-old trooper in the 13th Battalion of Tripura State Rifles (TSR), the state’s counter-insurgency force, was tested positive for COVID-19.

    The TSR jawan from Madhya Pradesh tested negative on April 23rd, 2020 and was released from the hospital.
