This 10-Yr-Old ‘Divyang’ Sivasagar Girl Proves ‘Where There’s A Will There’s A Way’

The DC not only provided her health card under Atal Amrit Abhiyaan but also made her entry at the District Library free

Undeterred by the fact that she is physically challenged, 10-year-old Akhtara has taken up the paintbrush to give colours to the barren canvas of her life.

Akhtara, daughter of Abdul Rahman of Amtalia village of Kalugaon had come to meet the Deputy Commissioner (DC), MS Lakshmi Priya, with her father on January 2nd, 2020. Upon hearing her story, the DC assured to help her.

The DC not only provided her health card under Atal Amrit Abhiyaan but also made her entry at the District Library free.

After coming to know about the fact that Akhtara had a penchant for drawing, Priya called on noted artist Sujit Barua and entrusted him the responsibility of mentoring her.

“Akhtara’s life has got a meaning and she is filled with renewed zeal and enthusiasm to fulfil her dreams which she was nurturing in her innocent heart. It has only become possible due to the generous move of the DC that Akhtara’s life has taken a positive turn,” said her parents.
