Track sensation Hima Das on July 16th, 2019 appealed to big corporates and individuals to come out and help the victims of the flood as it continues to ravage the state of Assam. The ‘Dhing Express’ also donated half of her month’s salary for the relief of flood victims.
“Flood situation in our state Assam is very critical, 30 out of 33 districts are currently affected. So I would like to request big corporates and individuals to kindly come forward and help our state in this difficult situation,” Hima tweeted.
Hima who is currently in the Czech Republic participating in the Kladno Athletics Meet contributed to the Assam Chief Minister’s Relief Fund on July 16th, 2019.
Floodwaters have engulfed a total of 30 of the 33 districts in the state and the death toll till July 15th, 2019 increased to 15.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke with the Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and assured all help and co-operation on the relief, rescue and rehabilitation measures.
