Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and his co-travelers had a narrow escape on September 23rd, 2019 after the helicopter they were travelling made an emergency landing at the Lilabari Airport due to the bad weather conditions located in the Lakhimpur district of Assam.
As per initial reports, the chopper’s pilot faced some technical error while flying and it twirled several times in the air. Efforts were immediately made for a safe landing. There are no reports of injuries or casualties.
Reports stated that Sonowal’s Media Adviser Hrishikesh Goswami, Personal security officer and PA to the CM Tuheen Hazarika were on board the chopper. They were on their way towards North Lakhimpur for the inaugural ceremony of Madhavdev University.
“Due to the bad weather, the pilot was forced to take the chopper to a height of about 3000 feet above the ground. Due to the blessings of the people of Assam and the efficiency of the pilot the helicopter was safely landed,” said Hrishikesh Goswami while speaking with the media.
