Northeast India is always known for its wide taste of music. It is known as the land of colourful festivals and a vibrant culture. Many a time globally renowned musicians and bands come to this part of India and perform in music festivals.
This time two Rock legends, Nazareth and Extreme from Scotland and America will be visiting Ukhrul in Manipur to headline the ShiRock Festival, 2019. Scottish rock band, Nazareth will be performing on September 16th, 2019 while, American rock band Extreme will headline the closing function on September 19th, 2019. The festival will be held at the Bakshi Ground.
The Indian Music Diaries announced this news on their official Facebook page on September 14th, 2019. “The festival, which has been sponsored by the state of Manipur, will also be conducting a band competition in which the winner will receive a cash prize of 10lacs and get to open for Extreme,” The Indian Music Diaries wrote.
Nazareth, a hard rock band was formed in 1968 that had several hits in the United Kingdom, as well as in several other West European countries in the early 1970s. They established an international audience with their 1975 album Hair of the dog, which featured their hits Hair of the dog and a cover of the ballad Love Hurts. The band continues to record and tour.
While, Extreme an American rock band, currently headed by frontman Gary Cherone and guitarist Nuno Bettencourt. The band reached the height of their popularity in the late 1980s and early 1990s with original line-up Gary Cherone, Nuno Bettencourt, Paul Geary and Patrick Badger.
