Right-Wing Org Demands Scrapping Of ST Status Of Communities Which Accepted Christianity

The right-wing organisation said that those who accepted Christianity are lethargic Hindus

The Hindu Yuva Chatra Parishad on September 24th, 2019, demanded scrapping of Scheduled Tribes (ST) status of the communities which accepted Christianity in the state. The remark sparked off strong resentment across the state.

Addressing a press conference in Majuli, the rightwing organisation said, “Those who accepted Christianity are lethargic Hindus. They are against the Vaishnavite culture of the state.”

Besides, slamming the Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, the leaders of the organisation said, “Sonowal is keeping mum in the matter only for his vested interest.”

It may be mentioned that the Satradhikar of Dakhinpat Satra Janardan Dev Goswami had earlier raised voice against the people inclined to accept Christianity.
