    Rhino Poacher Nabbed With Arms In Assam’s Nagaon

    In Assam, only three rhino poaching incidents have been reported in the Kaziranga National Park in 2019 which is lowest in the last 10 years

    Nagaon Police apprehended a rhino poacher with arms in the wee hours of February 8th, 2020 while he was allegedly trying to enter the Kaziranga National Park to kill one of the horned rhinos.

    The apprehended poacher was identified as Pradip Mura. The team had also recovered one .303 rifle with magazine and suppressor, eight rounds of live ammunition and one .22 rifle along with magazine from his possession.

    Based on a tip-off, an operation was launched by Nagaon Police in the area of Harmoti under Jakhalabandha Police Station. The operation was led by John Das, Deputy SP DSB Nagaon, accompanied by CI (W) Batadrava Insp. Someswar Konwar and SI (UB) Nipu Kalita, O/C Jakhalabandha PS and staff.

    In Assam, only three rhino poaching incidents have been reported in the Kaziranga National Park in 2019 which is lowest in the last 10 years.

    In 2019, two rhinos were killed under Golaghat district and one at Biswanath district. No rhino poaching incidents have been reported in Nagaon, Sonitpur and  Karbi Anglong districts of Assam. However, 21 poachers were apprehended in 2019 under Jakhalabandha Police Station in Nagaon.
