A retired Indian Air Force officer(IAF) from Assam ‘frustrated’ over the country’s financial crisis committed suicide at a hotel in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh on September 8th, 2019. The deceased also left behind a suicide note addressed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressing his concern for the steady decline in the growth in the Indian economy.
The 55-year-old Bijan Das penned a four-page suicide note addressed to Modi.
In the note, Das held former Finance Minister P. Chidambaram responsible for the country’s deteriorating financial status and blamed the UPA government for all the scams and financial mismanagement.
He mentioned that the Modi government should not be blamed for the slowdown of the Indian economy and further urged the Prime Minister to look after his family, especially his son, who is an aspiring singer.
It may be mentioned that, Das was reportedly found hanging from a ceiling fan by a hotel staff on the fateful day after the manager got suspicious about Das who did not come out of the room the entire day.
In the letter the former IAF official also mentioned that he has left some money for his hotel bill and cremation and requested the Allahabad administration to not call his family for his last rites.
Meanwhile, a police team is investigating the matter.
