    Protest Against Citizenship Bill Rocks Itanagar

    In a move to safeguard the interest of the indigenous people of the state, the forum highlighted a 3-point agenda to be fulfilled by the Centre

    The North East Indigenous Peoples Forum(NEIPF) in collaboration with the United Arunachal indigenous Peoples forum (UAIPF) on October 3rd, 2019 took to the streets and staged a massive protest against the contentious Citizenship Amendment Bill at the IG park in Arunachal Pradesh’s Itanagar on October 3rd, 2019.

    In a move to safeguard the interest of the indigenous people of the state, the forum highlighted a 3-point agenda to be fulfilled by the Centre which includes “immediate withdrawal of CAB 2016”, “Demand to all state  legislative Assembly of Northeast to adopt a resolution to take necessary steps to implement UNDRIP (United Nations Declaration on the right of indigenous Peoples -2017) in the region” and “failure of which might lead to intensive agitations across the Northeast”.

    Apart from the forum, Jarjum Ete, MP candidate of JDU also took part in the agitation and suggested the protesters “not to give up on the issue which is necessary for the protection of the Northeast region”.
