    President Ram Nath Kovind Reaches Meghalaya For His Maiden Visit

    Nearly 2,000 students would be conferred their degrees during the convocation

    President Ram Nath Kovind on November 3rd, 2019 reached Shillong for his maiden visit to Meghalaya. The President will be addressing the annual convocation meet at North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU) on November 4th, 2019.

    President Kovind was given Inter-Services Guard of Honour on his arrival at Shillong on Sunday. He was received by Governor Tathagata Roy among other dignitaries.

    The President landed at the Eastern Air Command headquarters’ Advanced Landing Ground in Upper Shillong by an Indian Air Force helicopter.

    As per media reports, nearly 2,000 students would be conferred their degrees during the convocation.

    Meanwhile, Meghalaya Police have upped security and arranged elaborate security arrangements to avoid any untoward incident during the President’s visit. On the other hand, the city has been given a facelift ahead of the president’s visit.

    President Kovind on November 3rd, 2019 attended the 5th convocation of Sikkim University in Gangtok, Sikkim.
