The Gohpur unit of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad(ABVP) and the Gohpur Mahkuma Students Union on September 20th, 2019 observed Swahid Diwas in memory of Assam martyrs Kanaklata Barua and Mukunda Kakati.

Rich tributes were paid to the freedom fighters of the Quit India Movement of 1942–Kanaklata Barua and Mukunda Kakati on their death anniversaries today. The ABVP holding a record 150-meter-long national flag held a procession under the banner of ‘Tiranga Yatra’. The students’ group chanted slogans like ‘Vande Mataram’ in unison.

It may be mentioned that Kanaklata Barua was an Indian freedom fighter and AISF leader from Assam.
