Permanent Account Number (PAN) card, a small card that holds a vital meaning in our lives as it is an essential document used for several purposes. It is a compact small card which easily fits in our wallet/purse, so we tend to carry it everywhere. But there are times when we damage or lose the card which becomes a major hassle for us.
For times like these, the Income Tax (I-T) Department has made the availability of PAN card simpler now. What needs to be done in cases of damage or loss of the PAN card is that a person can get the reprint for just Rs 50 and following a few simple steps online.
The I-T Department issues PAN cards through UTITSL or NSDL-TIN and depending on which agency issued your PAN card, you can approach them and get a reprint of your important document.
The Assam government on October 16th, 2019 shared a complete guide to reprint your PAN card on Twitter.
Steps to order a reprint of PAN card:
- You can visit the online portals of NSDL and UTITSL and look for the option Reprint PAN card.
- Clicking on the option will ask for your details which include your PAN card number, Date of Birth and Aadhar number.
- After filling out all the details, the agencies will just charge Rs 50 for delivery to an Indian address and Rs 959 to an address outside India.
- You can also download your e-PAN card from the websites of both the above-mentioned agencies.
It may be mentioned, according to amended income tax rules, one can also have a soft copy rather than having a hard copy.
