    Mizoram Registers First COVID-19 Case, Second In Northeast

    The 50-year-old patient had a travel history to Holland

    Mizoram registered its first positive coronavirus case as a 50-year-old man with recent travel history to Holland was tested positive. This is the second case in the Northeast India.

    The sample was tested at the Guwahati Medical College Hospital (GMCH). The patient, who hails from Aizawl, is under treatment at the Zoram Medical College in Mizoram.

    Earlier, a 23-year-old girl from Imphal (west) was identified as the first confirmed case of the novel coronavirus in Manipur. With a travel history to UK, the person is being treated at JNIMS.

    The confirmed coronavirus cases in India jumped to 512 on March 25th, 2020 accodring to the Health Ministry. Of them, 43 are foreign nationals. The ministry said that 40 coronavirus patients have also been cured or discharged so far. While the death toll related to COVID-19 rose to nine.

    Kerala overtook Maharashtra in terms of cases with 101 cases turning positive in the southern state. Maharashtra has the second-highest cases at 98.

    Delhi reported one death so far while other eight deaths so far have been reported from Maharashtra (two), Bihar, Karnataka, Gujarat, Punjab, West Bengal and Himachal Pradesh.

    Kerala has reported the highest number of COVID-19 cases so far at 101, including eight foreign nationals, followed by Maharashtra which recorded 98, including three foreigners, according to the ministry data.

    Karnataka has reported 41 cases of coronavirus patients, while cases in Telangana rose to 25, including 10 foreigners.  Uttar Pradesh has 34 positive cases.

    West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh and Andhra Pradesh have nine patients each. Chandigarh, as well as Jammu and Kashmir, have reported seven cases each so far.

    Gujarat has 32 positive cases while the number of cases in Rajasthan increased to 30. Cases in Delhi rose to 30, including one foreigner.

    In Haryana, there are 14 cases while Punjab has reported 29 cases. Ladakh has 13 cases, while Tamil Nadu has reported 16 cases.

    Uttarakhand has three cases while Himachal Pradesh and Bihar have 3 cases each.
