    Assam Govt Announces Rs 20 Lakh Ex-Gratia To Martyr Shrestha’s family

    Padam Bahadur Shrestha was killed during a ceasefire violation by Pakistan troops in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district in the intervening night of October 19-20, 2019

    The Assam Government on October 21st, 2019, announced Rs 20 lakh ex-gratia to the martyr Padam Bahadur Shrestha’s family.

    Havildar Shrestha, a resident of Hatighuli under Borpathar Police Station in Golaghat district, was one of the two Gorkha Regiment soldiers who were killed in during a ceasefire violation by Pakistani troops in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district in the intervening night of October 19th-20th, 2019.

    The mortal remains of the jawan is expected to reach at Dimapur Airport by AI-709 on October 22nd, 2019 at 12:55 pm. The body will then be taken to Dighali village in Dhansiri area.

    42-year-old Shrestha had joined the Gorkha Regiment in 2001. He had visited his family in July this year. He is survived by his parents, wife Dhal Kumari Shrestha, two daughters, and a son.

    It may be mentioned that two Indian soldiers and a civilian were killed and three other civilians sustained injuries in the unprovoked ceasefire violation at the Tangdhar sector along the Line of Control. The Indian Army on October 20th, 2019 said they retaliated and inflicted heavy damages with artillery attacks to at least three “terror camps” inside Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
