    Prime Accussed Convicted In Radha Kumari Rape-Murder Case In Sivasagar

    Assam Agriculture University student Radha Kumari was raped and strangled to death in the Tinsukia-Rangia passenger train

    After more than a year, the Sivasagar District and Sessions Judge Court on September 27th, 2019, pronounced its verdict in sensational Radha Kumari rape and murder case. The court convicted Bikash Das and acquitted Bipin Pande in the case and will announce the quantum of punishment on September 30th, 2019.

    It may be mentioned that on July 10th, 2018, Assam Agriculture University student Radha Kumari (21) was raped and strangled to death in the Tinsukia-Rangia passenger train. Her body was recovered from a toilet of the train at Simaluguri Railway Station. She had boarded the train in Sivasagar to visit her uncle at Furkating in Golaghat district.

    Later, the railway police registered a case (No 6/2018) under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code in the matter and arrested both the accused in cooperation with the Dibrugarh and Siavasagar police on July 12th, 2019, night.

    On July 12th, 2019, another girl Lalima Devi, a resident of Dibrugarh district, was found dead in the Avadh Assam Express. Her body was recovered at Furkuting Railway Station. She was also murdered the same way Kumari was murdered.
