    India Salutes ‘Missile Man’ On His 88th Birth Anniversary. Tributes Pour In

    His ideal life will always inspire the countrymen: Narendra Modi

    Remembering APJ Abdul Kalam, the former President and “Missile Man” of India on his 88th birth anniversary, political leaders, netizens came together to pay him rich tributes for his exceptional contributions in building the nation.

    The Bharat Ratna, who through his words and works, inspired millions across the globe to believe in their dreams was born on October 15th, 1931 in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu and breathed last on July 27th, 2015 in Shillong, Meghalaya. He was an aerospace scientist who served as the 11th President of India from 2002 to 2007.

    And on his birth anniversary, today rich tributes and wishes poured in from all quarters in the micro-blogging site Twitter including the incumbent government, opposition Congress, state bureaucrats and so on.

    “Respectful tribute to the Missile Man of India & former President, Bharat Ratna Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam on his 88th birth anniversary. His life has been a testament to greatness, hard work, and service to the nation,” the official Twitter handle of the Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) read.

    Congress also remembered the “Missile Man” of India and honored him for all his contributions to the growth of the nation. “A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, also known as the Missile Man of India, played a critical role in our space program & military missile development. He served as the President of India & was awarded the Bharat Ratna, Padma Vibhushan & Padma Bhushan for his contributions. We honor him today,”.

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid his homage on the social media platform while looking back Kalam’s journey through a video. He wrote that Kalam dreamt of a capable and proficient India of the 21st century and made his own special contribution in this direction. His ideal life will always inspire the countrymen. “India salutes Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Ji on his Jayanti,” he wrote on Twitter.

    Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal also paid solemn tributes to the former President of India on his birth anniversary.

    Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju too paid his tribute to the great man through a post on his Twitter handle.

    Former Silchar MP and All India Mahila Congress president Sushmita Dev honoured Kalam as the greatest ‘Inspirer’ and ‘Motivator’.

    Arunachal CM Pema Khandu remembered Kalam as “An embodiment of compassion, wisdom and strength.”

    Manipur CM N Biren Singh wrote that Kalam’s teachings and vision to take the nation on the path of development and prosperity will always be remembered.”
