A 424-bed hostel is coming up soon for the students of the Northeastern (NE) states studying at the Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi. The construction works of which have already begun, informed Union Minister Jitendra Singh.
In the first-of-its-kind 224-room hostel, 24 rooms will be specially assigned for the ‘Divyang’ students, the Development of the North Eastern Region (DoNER) minister informed. He also mentioned that the remaining rooms will be occupied by an equal number of boys and girls.
Singh also mentioned that the North Eastern Cultural and Information Centre will be set up in Dwarka. The Centre will be build at a cost of Rs 94 crore and will act as a cultural and information hub of the NE states. The Centre will house a library-cum-reading room and an art gallery showcasing the uniqueness of the eight NE states.
