A museum glorifying the historic ‘Battle of Saraighat’ is soon going to be constructed in Assam.
Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on October 1st, 2019 directed officials to construct a museum glorifying the ‘Battle of Saraighat‘ where the Ahoms routed the Mughals.
The battle of Saraighat carries the pride of the great Ahom dynasty which ruled for nearly 598 years. The battle was a naval battle fought in 1671 between the Mughal Empire and the Ahom Kingdom on the Brahmaputra river at Saraighat (now in Guwahati)
The museum will be constructed with a view to showcase the valour of the chief commander or ‘Borphukan’ in the Ahom Army, Lachit Borphukan during the Battles of Saraighat.
CM Sonowal on Tuesday reviewed a presentation on Brahmaputra riverine heritage and the naval history of Assam at Janata Bhawan, Guwahati.
