    Drugs Worth Over Rs 2 Crore Seized In Manipur’s Jiribam

    The drugs were loaded from Byrnihat, Meghalaya

    The Jiribam police on September 6th, 2019 seized a truck loaded with contraband drugs worth Rs 2,04,72,750 along the Jiribam-Imphal route. The police also arrested the driver of the truck.

    The arrested person has been identified as Nongsaibam Raees. He is a resident of Yairipok Toupokpi Sabal Leikai, Imphal East District, Manipur.

    As per reports, the drug cell of Jiribam police led by ASI A Krishna Sharma and SI T Rameshwor Singh carried out an operation in the above-mentioned route and seized the Ashok Leyland truck. The truck had three brown colour cartoons which were loaded along with some iron poles.

    Thereafter, on opening the carton boxes, large numbers of Tramadol Hydrochloride capsules (Rimdol-50) numbering 90,990 capsules containing 9099 stripes were found.

    Following the arrest of the truck driver, the police interrogated him and during the interrogation, the police found out that the drugs were loaded from Byrnihat, Meghalaya and were supposed to be transported to Myanmar via Moreh town for sale.
