The Lumding-Lanka connecting road along the National Highway-27 will remain shut until further orders after a stretch of the road collapsed due to landslide in the area on the night of September 25th, 2019.
Triggered by torrential rains in several parts of the district since the last three days, a road leading to the unreserved forest area along the National Highway has been massively damaged and the district authorities have taken up steps to close down communication till it is repaired.
“To avert any accident, the road will remain closed. We have had a talk with the district administration and the same has been informed to the National Highway authorities. All the vehicles have been diverted so far making it a one way so far,” said Officer-in-charge of Lumding Police Station.
“To keep a tab on the movement of vehicles, we will deploy patrolling party here,” he further added.
Meanwhile, a team of the Hojai district administration visited the site on September 26th, 2019 and took stock of the situation.
