The health department has directed the Deputy Commissioner and Superintendent of Police of Morigaon district to immediately go into quarantine as they were suspected to have in direct contact with some novel coronavirus (COVID-19) patients.
Along with these to top officials namely Deputy Commissioner Rituraj Bora and Superintendent of Police Swanpaneel Deka, few journalists were also asked to go to quarantine as they were said to have come in contact with two COVID-19 positive persons on March 31st, 2020.
The officers and the journalists reportedly came in contact with the COVID-19 positive persons in Bhuragaon in the District.
On Thursday Assam reported two more COVID-19 positive case, taking the state tally to 34. The fresh coronavirus positive case has been reported from the Morigaon district. The officials reportedly came in contact with these two patients.
Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said the new cases are secondary contacts of the Nizamuddin Markaz attendees.
Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced this on his twitter handle. He wrote, “Alert ~ Two persons from Morigaon have tested COVID-19 positive. They both are secondary contacts of Nizamuddin Markaz attendees. The cumulative number of patients in Assam now stands at 34. So far 5 patients have been cured.”
