    Man Booked For Violating Home Quarantine Norms In West Sikkim

    Diwas Gurung, a resident of Upper Dodak, reached his home on March 20th, 2020 from Europe. As a precautionary measure, he should have been in home isolation for 14-day

    Soreng Police in West Sikkim have been directed by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Soreng to take immediate action against a man for violating coronavirus (COVID-19) home quarantine protocol and indulging in risky behaviour.

    Diwas Gurung, a resident of Upper Dodak, reached his home on March 20th, 2020 from Europe. As a precautionary measure, he should have been in home isolation for 14-day.

    However, breaching the safety protocol, Gurung attended ‘Anthyesti Kriya’ of one of his relatives in Kaluk on March 23rd, 2020.

    “He, by his irresponsible act has exposed number of persons to the probable infection of coronavirus and therefore, I hereby order you to initiate immediate actions against Gurung section 270 of the IPC,” reads a notification order issued by Himmat Rai, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Soreng.

    As per the latest information, Gurung has been shifted to the district quarantine facility.

    It may be mentioned, the government directed the states to strictly take legal action against those defying the coronavirus lockdown advisory.
