Madhya Pradesh Crisis: No Floor Test For Kamal Nath Govt As Of Now, House Adjourned Till Mar 26

The 15-month-old Kamal Nath government in Madhya Pradesh is tottering on the brink of a collapse after the defection of Jyotiraditya Scindia to the Bharatiya Janata Party

In much relief, the Kamal Nath-led Congress government in Madhya Pradesh won a 10-day reprieve on March 16th, 2020 as the assembly session was adjourned till March 26th, 2020 after a dramatic one-minute address by Governor Lalji Tandon.

Governor Tandon walked out of the assembly amid slogans of “respect the house” after he just read out the last page of his address to the assembly. He also urged the Congress government in the state to “follow the Constitution”.

Nath is facing a tough battle to protect his government after the defection of Jyotiraditya Scindia to the Bharatiya Janata Party. Following which, 22 Congress MLAs tendered their resignations, out of which six have been accepted.

Governor Tandon instructed Nath to face a trust vote after his address to the state assembly on March 16th, 2020.

Alleging that some of his MLAs are being held hostage in Bengaluru, Nath had written to the Governor asking for the postponement of the floor test.

After the session was adjourned till March 26th, 2020, the Congress leaders gathered outside the Madhya Pradesh Assembly hall and chanted slogans like ‘Hum ladenge choron se (We will fight against the thieves)’.
