A Lat Mandal of the Dispur Revenue Circle Office, Guwahati was arrested on October 11th, 2019 for accepting a bribe of Rs 8000 from a person for issuing flat sale permission. The accused has been identified as Lachit Thakuria (57).
The Anti-Corruption Bureau sleuths caught the accused red-handed at around 2 pm today while he was accepting a bribe amount of Rs. 8,000 from a complainant Parag Chandra Bhagawati. The ACB sleuths seized the amount of money from the possession of the accused and connected documents.
As per information, the complainant had applied for obtaining sale permission for six residential flats to the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Kamrup (Metro) through the Circle Officer Dispur. The said sale permissions were recorded at the Office of the Circle Officer on March 5th, 2019. But, the accused mandal had demanded bribe money amount to Rs. 8,000 for each flat sale permission basis.
Later, the complainant was approached the ACB PS in the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, Assam, Guwahati and accordingly a trap was laid down as per standard procedure in the matter of ACB PS Case No. 12/2019 under section 7(a) of the PC Act, 1988 (as amended in 2018) and led to his arrest today while accepting the bribe amount. The accused will be produced in the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate, Kamrup on October 12th, 2019.
