JNU To Hold Exams Via WhatsApp, Email Amid Exam Boycott

The JNU Teachers’ Association and JNU Students’ Union have called the term as “absurd”

Amid the boycotting of the end-semester examinations called by the students of the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), the varsity administration has found out an innovative way to hold the exams via WhatsApp and email.

According to the dean of School of International Studies (SIS), Aswini K Mohapatra the decision was taken after a meeting of the Deans of Schools and Chairpersons of Special Centres with the Vice-Chancellor and other officials “in view of the extraordinary situation” at the campus.

Mohapatra added that in the meeting there was a general agreement keeping in view of the academic interest of the students, for an alternate mode of examinations for the students registered under MPhil/PhD and MA Programme.

The respective question papers will be sent to the students by the course teachers for MPhil and MA programme and the students need to submit their answer scripts to the respective teachers for evaluation.

The answer scripts should be submitted by December 21st,2019and those who fail to return the scripts will be given an additional day.

The move has been however not accepted by the JNU Teachers’ Association and JNU Students’ Union. They have termed it as “absurd”.
