Guwahati, June 24, 2019
A Guwahati-bound flight from
Hyderabad made an emergency landing at the Biju Patnaik International Airport
in Odisha on June 23rd, 2019 after a passenger from Assam allegedly indulged in
unruly behaviour on board. The youth was identified as 20-year-old Irshad Ali
of Jamunamukh area in Assam.
The IndiGo flight from
Hyderabad to Guwahati landed in Odisha after it was diverted under the
emergency protocol. Ali was deplaned and handed over to the airport police. As
per information available, Ali was suffering from fever at the time of boarding
the flight.
It is said that Ali along with
one of his friends, Abdul Karim, also from Assam, boarded the Indigo flight for
Guwahati from Hyderabad following his mother’s illness. He has been working at
an ice-cream parlour of Pune in Maharashtra for the past five years.
As per reports, Ali started to
behave abnormally in the Guwahati-bound plane. The passengers on board were
scared after Ali created a ruckus and even tried to open a door of the
aircraft. The crew, consequently, decided to force-land the airliner at Biju
Patnaik International Airport immediately at 6: 10 am.
The family members of Ali have
been informed by the police and they are expected to reach Odisha at the
earliest.
The Odisha Sun Times reported, Ali was later admitted to the Capital Hospital in Odisha. The aircraft later resumed its journey to Guwahati at 7.13 am and reached the destination around 8.30 am.
