    India’s COVID-19 Cases Soar To 37,336, Death Toll At 1,218

    The MHA extended the lockdown by another two weeks on May 1. The third phase of the lockdown has been extended up to May 17

    India’s novel coronavirus (COVID-19) total confirmed cases surged to 37,336 on May 2nd, 2020.

    As per the data released by the Union Health Ministry, out of 37,336 confirmed COVID-19 cases, 26,167 are still active.

    9,950 patients have been cured or discharged so far while the death toll has risen to 1,218 and one patient migrated, the Health Ministry’s COVID-19 dashboard showed at 8 am.

    It may be noted that 2,293 new cases, 71 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours in India. This is the highest number of cases reported in one day, said the Health Ministry.

    The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) extended the lockdown by another two weeks on May 1st, 2020. The third phase of the lockdown has been extended up to May 17th, 2020.

    The second phase will end on May rd, 2020. The order was issued by the MHA under the Disaster Management Act, 2005.

    However, the green and orange zones have been allowed to resume some non-essential activities.
