Indian, American Soldiers Singing Assam Regiment’s Marching Song Will Swell Your Chest With Pride

Indian soldiers were joined in by their American counterparts in singing the Assam Regiment’s legendary marching song during a joint military exercise in the US

High in spirits and exuberance, a video of Indian and American soldiers singing, clapping and cheering in unison to the legendary Indian Army’s Assam Regiment marching song Badluram ka badan zameen ke neeche hai will surely make you proudly sing along.

The video of the soldiers singing the popular marching song during a joint military exercise in the US has received a humongous positive response from all quarters. It was tweeted by the Indian Army on September 15th, 2019.

“Troops of #IndianArmy & #USArmy sharing lighter moments after practising gruesome Training Session” the Indian Army captioned the video. The joint exercise ‘Yudhabhyas’ was carried out at Joint Base Lewis, McChord in the United States.

It may be mentioned that the marching song of the Assam Regiment has an inspiring story behind it which dates back to World War II. It is dedicated to the Indian Army soldier Badluram, who was martyred fighting against Japanese forces.

However, his death was not reported to the Quarter Master. Hence the soldiers continued to receive Badluram’s ration which eventually turned into a surplus. When the Japanese forces took over the Assam regiment they cut off all their supplies. It was Badluram’s share of the ration that helped the Indian troops to survive.

    Here’s the lyrics:

    Ek khubsoorat ladki thi
    Usko dekh ke rifleman
    Chindi khichna bhul gaya
    Havaldar Major dekh liya
    Usko pittu lagaya
    Badluram ek sipahi tha
    Japan war me mar gaya

    Quarter Master smart tha
    Usney ration nikala
Badluram ka badan zameen ke nichey hain
Toh humein uska ration milta hain…
    Sabash… hallelujah…
Toh humein uska ration milta hain…
