Guwahati: Opening access to athletes from the Northeast region to the global Unified Rating of Professional Armwrestling (URPA), a first-ever arm wrestling championship has been organized at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) auditorium located in Bhagagarh which kick-started on July 26th, 2019.
The 2-day event organized by the Purna Bikash Sanstha will have 12 categories. The winner will get prize money of Rs 6 lakh.

The championship will see more than 150 participants and athletes from across the globe have arrived at the city to participate in the championship.
It may be mentioned here, Bulldog Armwrestling signed an agreement with the global Professional Armwrestling League (PAL) for the development of professional arm-wrestling in India and the United Arab Emirates and in the month of March, the first professional arm-wrestling tournament took place in Bengaluru.
