    In A First, Students Of Class IX, X To Get Free Uniforms In Assam

    The Minister said that from this year onwards, every student from Class I-VIII will get four number of uniform sets instead of two

    In a first, the education department of Assam will provide two pairs of free uniforms to the students of Class IX and X.

    Addressing a press meet in Guwahati on January 25th, 2020, Assam Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “For the first time in the history of Assam education, students of Class IX and X will get two pairs of free uniforms which will be provided from the State Budget. The requirements provided by the School Managing Committee will be subjected to rigorous quality checking at school and district level.”

    The Minister said that from this year onwards, every student from Class I-VIII will get four number of uniform sets instead of two.

    “The State government has decided to procure uniform for students from Class I-VIII through School Managing Committees. An amount of Rs 449 crore will be released for the same to the Committees. The entire process will be monitored by a Quality Management team and comprehensive guidelines will be issued by the SSA,” Sarma added.

    While the cost of the uniform for Class I-VIII will be Rs 300 per set, it will Rs 350 per set for the students of Class IX-X.
