    Identify Yourselves Or Face Action: Himanta To Nizamuddin Markaz Attendees

    So far 831 people linked to the Nizamuddin area have been identified and 431 samples out of these have been collected

    Health Minister Biswa Sarma has announced that the government will file charges under the Disaster Management Act against the people link with the Nizamuddin issue if they do not voluntarily identify themselves by Tuesday.

    Himanta Biswa Sarma speaking to the media so far 831 people linked to the Nizamuddin area have been identified and 431 samples out of these have been collected while several are yet to identify themselves. 100 of the identified persons have no links with the Tablighi Jamat while 50 have not yet returned to the state. Anyone who is linked with the incident and if they fail to identify themselves, the government will file FIR under the Disaster Management Act against them.

    He added that currently process to identify the attendees of the Jamat is going on and very soon all the persons will be identified. Apart from this Rs 2.15 crore have been released for the quarantine expenses of the people under isolation and the Deputy Commissioners will also be granted a fund of Rs 50 lakh each for the quarantine facilities.

    He added that apart from this some people who are stranded outside will be allowed to enter Assam only with permits so that the movement of the stranded persons can be monitored. “The permits will be allowed on a phased manner after the withdrawal of the lockdown. Some people who are supposed to go to other states via Assam will be given a transit pass”, he added.

    He further added that in the past 48 hours only one positive case for novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has been reported in Assam and if things go as per plans, the number of positive cases will be very less. Apart from this, 112 contacts of Guwahati’s first COVID-19 case, Manish Tibrewal have been already traced.

    Out of the 112, 98 samples have been taken and of these 85 have been tested negative and results for 13 others are yet to arrive.

    The minister further maintained that the health department still suspects that Tibrewal was infected from a silent carrier and the source of infection is yet to be known.
