    Huge Cache Of Lethal Weapons Of NDFB Found Hidden In Chirang

    The arms were recovered in Gabrukhunda inside Panbari Reserve Forest

    A huge stash of lethal weapons and ammunition belonging to the banned militant outfit Saoraigwra-led National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDBF-S) was recovered in Chirang district of Assam on September 24th, 2019. The police said the cache was buried in a forested area.

    Speaking to Time8, Chirang Superintendent of Police, Sudhakar Singh informed that based on intelligence inputs, a joint operation was launched on September 23rd, 2019 with 5th Garhwal Rifles and 54 Bn SSB in Gabrukhunda inside Panbari Reserve Forest. The area is 18 km north from Panbari Police Station.

    Singh further informed that rigorous search was carried out. “This is so far one of the biggest arms recovery this year. Based on the lead given by source & Army tracker dog, digging was done at multiple places. During digging, at one place, eight packets containing some suspected items packed in plastic material have been recovered.” The operation was led by SDPO Bijni.

    •  Country made ammunition : 05
    •  Empty cartridges : 83
    •  12 bore empty cartridges : 15
    •  7.62 Pistol magazine : 03
    •  .22 Pistol magazine : 01
    • Explosives (PEK) : 17 KG
    • HYT hand held Radio Set (made in China) with additional battery: 02
    •  12 Volt battery : 01
    • Wire : 93 feet
    • Suspected Lead/Iron balls : 10 nos
    •  Extra barrel : 01
