The Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) has ordered an enquiry following reports that the Chemistry subject question paper has been allegedly leaked on the day of the examination. The first page of the question paper allegedly went viral on social media in the early morning hours of February 15th, 2020.
Deepika Choudhury, Inspector of Schools, Dibrugarh told reporters that a copy of the first page of the Chemistry question paper containing the instructions was doing the rounds on social media.
“The exam began at 9 am. Only the first page that consists of the instructions is being circulated on social media. We cannot confirm the source of leakage. The matter has been taken up seriously and the AHSEC has already initiated an enquiry into the matter,” she said.
Altogether 1,175,175 students in Arts stream, 40,588 in Science stream, 18,178 in Commerce stream and 868 students in vocational stream would appear for the Class 12 Board examinations.
To conduct the examinations smoothly and check any sort of malpractice, three-layered security arrangements have been put into place by the AHSEC including CCTV cameras, jammers and a full-fledged cyber cell.
The students and invigilators are not allowed to carry a mobile phone or any electronic device inside the hall. The in-charge of the examination hall will be allowed to carry a mobile phone.
The district administrations have been asked to impose Section 144 CrPC within a 50-metre radius of all the examination centres to ensure that no one can come within 100 metres except the candidates and staff members involved in conducting the exam.
