Guwahati: In wake of protest by the students’ fraternity, the prestigious Cotton University has finally unveiled its new uniform for the Higher Secondary (HS) 1st-year students.
The HS 1st-year students of the varsity have been directed to wear the uniform dresses from August 1st, 2019 onwards by the HS Uniform Design Committee The move has been approved by the Vice-Chancellor of Cotton University, Prof BC Goswami.

As per the new dress code, girls will wear blue striped kurta with the university logo on the left upper arm teamed with a pair of deep blue trousers and black shoes. While for the boys, it is a blue striped shirt teamed with deep blue trousers and black shoes. However, girls will be allowed to wear the same uniform specified for the boys.
The varsity, in its notification, has mentioned that the students may optionally wear formal traditional dresses in lieu of their regular uniforms on odd-numbered Saturdays of every month. The varsity has specified that waist belt and shoes to be worn by students must be black in colour. The uniforms will be available at the ‘Raju Dresses’ located in Ganeshguri area of the city.
When contacted by Time8, ‘Raju Dresses’ confirmed the development and said, “We have already started to receive orders in bulk. The average cost of a uniform would be somewhere between Rs 1100-1200.”
