    Hand-Made Bomb Recovered In Assam’s Barpeta Ahead Of Independence Day


    Barpeta: Ahead of the 73rd Independence Day, the Barpeta Police on August 4th, 2019, recovered a hand-made bomb from Sukhowarjhar village in the district. The bomb, which was kept under a pile of hay, was recovered from one Kamal Uddin’s residence.

    Three suspected members of the banned Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen (JMB), an Islamic terrorist organisation operating in Bangladesh, were arrested from Barpeta on August 3rd, 2019.

    Mustafizur Rehman, 22, a resident of Sarthebari town in Barpeta, was held on suspicion of his links with the JMB while one Sofiqul Islam was nabbed by the police from Nalbari district. On the other hand, Danesh Ali, 35, was arrested from Itarbhita village in Howly town.

    On July 30th, 2019, four suspected cadres of JMB were nabbed by the police. They were Hafizur Rehman from Bhawanipur (Barpeta), Yakub Ali and Sariful Islam from Kayakuchi (Barpeta), Hanif Ali from Chirang district.
