With eyes set on 2020 general election of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), the Bodoland People’s Front president Hagrama Mohilary on September 30th, 2019, said that his party will ‘surely’ win the election.
Besides, talking about forging an alliance with its partners at the state government, Mohilary said, “BPF will contest the election in alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Asom Gana Parishad in the council election. But, BPF will contest from maximum seats.”
Independent parliamentarian from Kokrajhar Naba Kumar Sarania has also pulled up his socks to win the council’s electing. On September 11th, 2019, the MP said that he had prepared the blueprint to pocket the BTC in its general election.
Sarania also launched his new political party – People Protection Party Asom (PPPA) – in Barpeta district’s Pathsala on September 22nd, 2019 with an eye to give a tough fight in the election. Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimary welcomed the new party and stated that the communal differences created on the grounds of ‘Bodo and non-Bodo’ will finally come to an end keeping in view of the name.
