The Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang on August 29th, 2019, said that the government is committed to strengthen the Panchayati Raj system for the development of the state.
“The government is planning to increase the honorarium of Panchayat members to encourage them to work with dedication for the development of the state,” Tamang said. The CM also suggested that the Gram Sabhas should be of paramount importance to recognise and identify the needy people. “This is how the right people will be able to avail the benefits of the government without any hurdles,” he added.
A total of 32 Panchayat members of the Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) from Yangthang from West Sikkim Constituency joined the Prem Singh Tamang-led Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) today. The CM asked the newly joined leaders to work in tandem for the development of the Sikkimese people.
