As a part of the Fit India Movement initiative started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, an open-air green gym has been set up at the DC park in Tura, Meghalaya.
Inaugurating the gym, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma said, “As part of the Fit India Movement, this outdoor gym is one small step initiated by us. We intend to put up more outdoor gyms in all the districts of the state in the second phase and hopefully to every constituency in the third phase.”
“This outdoor gym will give opportunities to people who may not have access to gyms and I encourage the people of Tura to come out and make the most out of this facility. Also, remember a healthy body will ensure a healthy mind,” he added.
This initiative has been appreciated by many and said that it’s a great contribution for Fit India Movement.
The outdoor green gym will be open to the public every day from 5:30 am to 7 am and there’s no entry fee till further orders. The District Administration of West Garo Hills, Tura has requested people to use all the equipment in the gym responsibly.
Also, the administration has asked the people not to litter around and follow the sequence as demonstrated for a few pieces of equipment in the gym.
Indeed, a great initiative to push people to stay fit and healthy!
