The incident of the brutal attack on the students of the Jawaharlal Nehru University, that took place on January 5th, 2020, triggered protests across the nation and abroad. Students of colleges and universities across the world condemned the incident.
A day after the heinous incident leaving around 20 severely injured, activists of Asom Chatra Yuva Sanmilani staged protests against the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). The organization accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party of “murdering the democracy”.
Meanwhile, the Students’ Federation of India and All India Students’ Association (AISA) activists burnt effigies of PM Modi in Assam’s Biswanath condemning the barbaric attack on the JNU students on Sunday evening. The activists demanded appropriate action against the miscreants.
Hundreds of students of Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati, also staged a protest condemning the incident. The students of the one of the most reputed institution demanded justice and exemplary punishment to the miscreants.
Hours after the incident where a mob of masked men attacked the students with wooden sticks and iron rod, students from across the nation and abroad also came out in solidarity with their JNU counterparts.
Students of Pondicherry University, Bengaluru University, University of Hyderabad and Aligarh Muslim University also staged protests condemning the incident. Even, protests were also seen at Oxford and Columbia University also.
